Prue and Michael were married under the stars in the stunning gardens of The Grounds of Alexandria in front of their closest family and friends. So many beautiful, creative choices were made to bring this day together, including that they had their wedding on a Thursday night, and they had their bridal and family portraits before the ceremony so that the party could kick on  uninterrupted after the ceremony – brilliant!
Prue and Michael are passionate gardeners, so they were perfectly at home amongst the beautiful greenery, surrounded by their perfect flower choices. And on the night of their wedding, The Grounds also hosted a bright, crazy, neon dessert festival in the public areas. As a result, this incredible wedding has two very distinct aesthetics: gorgeous luxury garden and Willy Wonka neon funhouse.
And as a documentary photographer who loves colour, I cannot tell you how excited I was by this – colour! Lights! Flowers! Amazing dresses! A stunning blue suit! The whole shebang!
My advice to all my neon-inspired, artistic, fun-loving couples out there? Be creative! Look for venues and events that help to express your personalities and the things you love. Create your perfect wedding timeline that works for you – don’t feel you have to do things traditionally if that’s not who you are. Be yourselves. Embrace the neon!
Before their ceremony, we spent a lovely relaxed 30 minutes walking around the gardens for their daylight portrait session… then late that night (full of champagne, happiness, and giggles) we ran around under the neon lights, after all the crowds had gone, and Prue and Michael giddily kissed among the donut carts. Now that’s romance!
