Beach. Teal dress. Celebratory piñata. Oh man.
This wedding. Ooooooooh, this wedding. Verity and Chris (aka “Wazza”) called me because they were looking for some simple, documentary wedding photography that didn’t involve spending two hours away from their guests to take posed photographs. They came to the right girl.
They were married at Coledale Beach on the NSW south coast, in a nice quiet spot beside the surf club with only their immediate families in attendance; they then had seventy of their nearest and dearest friends gather inside the surf Coledale Surf Club for drinks and nibbles and very light-hearted frivolity. The weather was insane – during the course of the ceremony we went from bright blue skies, to overcast, to bucketing rain just as the happy couple said “I do” – we then had to make a run for the surf club immediately after their big beautiful kiss! Ten minutes later it was bright and sunny again. A beautiful exciting day for a beautiful tender couple.
This was truly my favourite kind of wedding – unstyled, utterly unpretentious, and absolutely genuine. Verity and Wazza didn’t need bells and whistles. I mean, they had a wedding piñata instead of a wedding cake. It doesn’t get more relaxed than that. Our portrait session was done in twenty minutes – we took a stroll along the beach, walked out on the rocks for a few minutes, and had a few laughs. That’s it. Anyone who tells you you have to spend two hours cruising around different locations to get wedding portraits is telling you porkies! Verity and Wazza are the living proof.
Their day was full of laughs, and hugs, and wonderful moments. It won’t be one I’ll forget in a hurry.
Want a short portrait session on your wedding day, and relaxed documentary photographic coverage, and to spend the day actually talking with your guests instead of your photographer? Call me. I’ll be there for you.
