Dear little Ava was christened at Holy Name of Mary Church in Hunters Hill, Sydney, on a warm cloudy day. I hadn’t photographed inside this particular church before, so man was I impressed with the light and the beauty it contained. Everything about this christening was gorgeous and classic – the church, the ceremony, the christening gown, the lovely bonnet that went with it (is it just me who thinks we should bring back the bonnet?). It was a true pleasure to document, and if I had my way (hang on, could I have my way?) I’d photograph nothing but christenings , baptisms and naming ceremonies every single weekend. You Catholics sure know how to throw a “welcome to the church” soirée.
The reception was held at Oliveto in Rhodes. You’d be hard pressed to find a lovelier venue on any given day of the week, but today it was especially divine; beautifully styled and dressed to perfection. There are hundreds of images from this beautiful event that I could have shared, and you all know that generally I am very people-oriented (god help me, I just love humans), but I’m also very detail-oriented, so today I’m just going to share with you some of the details of this event instead, as they’re really too nice not to share. Look at them. Just look. Can’t you feel your mouth watering? Don’t you just want to eat every.single.thing. on that beautiful dessert table?
All christenings, whether ritzy and styled, simple and classic, or quirky and interesting, are once-in-a-lifetime events. If you’re considering a photographer to document one, of any denomination or idealogical lean, drop me a line here and let’s chat about it.
